Some doorways seemed in relative decent condition while others were destroyed and were indistinguishable from other collapsed walls and piles of rubble. There were signs of fires, in some cases it was merely a trail of soot and smoke above a window pane, in others it was a pile of ash where once a building stood.
Mestauskalio, once nothing more than a simple, quiet town was now partially reclaimed by nature. The air which was once filled with the many sounds of a growing community had grown eerily quiet. The silence was only broken up by the occasional animal sound and gust of wind.
The art gallery was once the cultural pride and joy of this town and tourists flocked to see the art displayed here. Now it was home to a flock of doves who’ve destroyed most art pieces in their ignorance of what it once meant to so many people.
You couldn’t help but feel lost in this town now, even if you knew exactly where you were. It was a lonely place with only distant memories of what once was. But even with all the animals that lived here now and made this town their new home you couldn’t escape the feeling that so much had been lost forever.
Doors were broken, rotten and in most cases barely a door at all. Whether this was the work of looters, animals or the elements was unclear, but it didn’t really matter. A few rusted cars still stood in their driveways, though most were stripped of all their spare parts.
Dawsbury, once a major hub for new businesses and young families had been forsaken and left to rot alone. The many voices of a once bustling community were replaced with the many voices of wild animals and stray pets that had made this town their new home.
The animals of this town always had the people of the animal shelter to count upon in times of need. It’s perhaps for this reason that many had made this particular building their home, even if it wasn’t the same as before.
Despite the many animals that inhabit this town it was still a very unsettling sight to behold. Nature had taken its toll on the vast majority of town. But there was an odd sense of harmony as nature reclaimed what was theirs and resettled an old balance.
