The San Diego Symphony is excited to present its winter-spring 2022 concert season, which will give the orchestra an opportunity for continued growth with 31 performances of classical and contemporary masterworks. This includes music at nine venues in the downtown city or across County including The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park where they are offering free open rehearsals on November 15th from 7:00 pm – 9 PM.

A huge and diverse orchestra for an even more immersive experience than ever before, Led by Music Director Rafael Payare. The new concert season of music starts off with a bang as the world’s most prestigious symphony arrives at your doorstep! A true masterpiece from ages ago awaits you: Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 in D Minor “Choral”. It will be conducted by none other than our very own resident maestro; he is known internationally today – if not already then soon after hearing this performance- because his talent knows no bounds when it comes to the classical orchestral repertoire as we know so well here– Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique.
This year, the San Diego Symphony will present a diverse range of artists and composers with their spring concert series. The lineup includes ten female guest artists in three different conductors from BIPOC communities; seven works for orchestra by Latin American composers like Osvaldo Golijov (Last Round), Andrés Martín (Concerto For Double Bass) , and Tijuana-based composers to name only a few. This is not just any symphony either – it’s Also programming rich commissions including premiering new pieces written specifically for this event as well two world premieres commissioned by them too “Osceola” composed by Indigenous recorder player Orlando Barnechea del Río & Colombian violinist/composerGust.
The San Diego Symphony is making waves with its “Hear Us Here” tour of the city! The Rady Shell, a new public park and event venue that was inaugurated on August 5 hosted 28 performances in its first two months drawing more than 88 thousand people for events. Not only does this space offer music lovers free programs but also rehearsals or just time away from work-out – there are plenty of activities to keep you busy all year round at Jacobs Park whether it be during your morning run through ́round mile track’, taking advantage of one long picnic table under sunny skies?

The Motive Behind Of San Diego Symphony Concert Season
The California Center for the Arts is proud to present Hear Us Here! The winter-spring season will feature performances from multiple programs at this wonderful venue. Guests can see your favorite shows, including Dance Theater of Harlem’s iconic On Our Own Ground series in a theater experience like no other with breathtaking views and elegant acoustics.
The diverse San Diego Symphony will be on tour this fall with performances at the beautiful Baker-Baum Concert Hall in La Jolla, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park on San Diego Bay, and near downtown to close out 2018. They’re also set for individual shows across town like an encore date of sorts by heading down south into Solana Beach where you can catch them playing right outside SeaWorld’s new aquarium that just opened. Ahead up soon we’ll get another taste from one of our favorite venues when they take over Joan B Kroc Theater as partook performing arts center located next door.
The San Diego Symphony will be performing an exclusive concert for the benefit of Palm Springs Friends of Philharmonic at McCallum Theatre in November. The Barbara Fremont Foundation has also offered to sponsor this event, providing that all proceeds are donated towards charity.
After exploring opportunities on both sides – Mexico and California- officials have speculated about how their respective borders may open up again soon enough so visitors can once more enjoy music across international lines without worrying about crossing into another country illegally or being denied entry because they lack necessary paperwork like visas/permits etc.

Music Director Rafael Payare said, “I’m so looking forward to the coming season as we finally get a chance to perform music from Berlioz with Symphonie Fantastique. In addition, we will be presenting Schnittke’s Moz-Art à la Haydn in a concert at The Rady Shell this year! Last but not least, our final performance of the Calendar Year is going off without any glitches when you can end it all by watching Beethoven’s magnificent Ninth Symphony.”

Who Will Be The Special Guest At Concert Season?
The San Diego Symphony will be hosting four intimate chamber concerts this season, featuring members of their orchestra and special guest artists. On January 11th they’ll perform a program with guitarist Jason Vieaux who’ll play music from Spain and Italy on March 1st Pacho Flores is performing soloist performing Paco Iago Arriaga’s Danzón as well as his own compositions for a trumpet before an audience at The Conrad’s Baker-Baum Concert Hall in La Jolla that evening where he has been invited back by request; likewise, Benjamin Hochman performs the Brahms’ Piano Quintet which had its debut alongside works composed exclusively just for him.
The Symphony and San Diego Opera, a long-standing partnership that has produced two performances this season. In February the company will present Mozart’s Così fan Tutte conducted by Bruce Stasyna at Civic Theatre in Downtown San Diego; it was last performed during his innovative drive-in performance The Barber of Seville earlier this year (GR).
The Auditions
Beginning in January, the San Diego Symphony will conduct a range of auditions throughout the spring as it looks to fill seven positions that are currently vacant. This follows fall 2021’s successful attempt at filling six other previous vacancies with candidates from around Southern California and beyond! It is not just about being able to find talented musicians for this orchestra; they have been working closely alongside Sphinx Organization – an organization dedicated solely to diversity within arts by supporting artists at every level through coaching sessions & orchestral partner opportunities like masterclass coaching programs or even simply attending rehearsals when available.”
