Middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. has fired back at his domestic rival, former two division world champion Billy Joe Saunders.
Eubank was in action last Saturday night, when he dropped Liam Williams four times to secure a twelve round unanimous decision in Cardiff.
Following that match, Saunders took a few swipes at Eubank’s performance and compared him to a “baby giraffe.”
“When Eubank can outbox somebody, that’s when you know you’ve had a bad night. His boxing ability is like a baby giraffe just been born come out. It doesn’t matter if I do the weight comfortably or not. I could do the weight half dead and still beat him. So that wouldn’t be the issue. He hasn’t got what it takes to beat me. He’ll box when I’m ready,” Saunders told IFL TV.
“He hasn’t really done anything in the game apart from his dad’s name where you can let someone call the shots. I’ve tried to deal with them before under Frank Warren, and they’re very difficult people to deal with. If they want to talk about it, let them get on the phone and we’ll see what they’re offering.”
Saunders has been out of the ring since May of 2021, when he suffered a stoppage loss at the hands of Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
In 2014, Eubank suffered the first defeat of his career in a close points loss to Saunders.

“I’m the only thing he has left in the sport of boxing,” Eubank said to The Daily Mail.
“The fight will happen, it’s just when, where and how. Everything will be on my terms, he has nothing to offer. I’m the only name that people are interested in him fighting… I’m his best friend in boxing right now, he has no one else.
“It’s not for me to reach out to them. I’ve got a long list of huge fights that could be made for me over the next six to 12 months so he’s not a priority. I understand the public want to see the fight, I do obviously have this history with him… I want to avenge the loss that he was gifted. The fight will happen but when I’m ready.”
