Miami’s Rigondeaux (20-2, 13KOs)—a two-time Olympic Gold medalist and former lineal junior featherweight champ originally from Santiago de Cuba, Cuba— remains at bantamweight, where he faces Philippines Vincent Astrolabio in a scheduled 12-round regional title fight. The bout headlines an eight-fight card taking place Saturday evening (local time) at Dubai Marina in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

UNDERCARD RESULTS
Jesus Gamboa (4-0, 1KO) put on a body punching clinic in taking a six-round shutout win over India’s Manish Ahlawat (3-2-1, 2KOs). No scores were announced, though Gamboa clearly won every round and nearly had Ahlawat on the verge of a stoppage on several occasions in ultimately settling for a lopsided victory.
Yan Marcos was forced to go the distance for the first time as a pro, taking an eight-round decision victory over Kinshasa’s Mardochee Kuvesa Katembo (13-6-1, 0KOs). No scores were announced for the welterweight bout, which saw Marcos score knockdowns late in round two and early in round six but unable to put away Katembo, who has never been stopped as a pro.
The fight marked the first time Marcos fought beyond the second round since turning pro just four months ago. The 21-year-old Havana-bred southpaw—now based out of Dubai—was content to fight in counterpunching mode, resulting in a sloppy affair down the stretch though enough to preserve his unbeaten record.
Armando Martinez Rabi (5-0, 5KOs) was forced to enter uncharted territory to preserve his perfect knockout to win ratio. The unbeaten Cuban lightweight—now based out of Dubai—was extended into the sixth round before stopping Tanzania’s Jackson Malinyingi (11-6-1, 3KOs) on his feet.

Messi Elime (5-0, 3KOs) closed the show in style, flooring Sserunkuma (1-1-1, 0KOs) with a left hook. Sserunkuma beat the count but was deemed unfit to continue by the referee who halted the contest at 0:55 of round six.
Messi Elime turned pro last February in his native Cameroon before relocating to Dubai, where has spent his past four fights.
Dayan Gonzalez made quick work of Egypt’s Mostafa Elhamy (1-1, 0KOs), scoring a first-round knockout in the opening bout on the live stream. The brief affair saw Gonzalez (3-0, 2KOs)—a Cuban junior lightweight now based out of Dubai—immediately take the fight to Elhamy, rocking the Egyptian with an overhand right before a left hook to the body forced the full ten count midway through the first round.
