The Mandalika MotoGP becomes the world’s spotlight
The Indonesian MotoGP international race event at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, NTB, has been held. Miguel Oliveira emerges as the winner of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP.
Miguel Oliveira beat the other rider, namely Fabio Quartararo, who finished second. In the next position are Johann Zarco and Jack Miller.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his gratitude for the successful implementation of the Mandalika MotoGP to the NTB community and a number of parties who supported the event.
“This is a big event of a very extraordinary motor sport and I want to express my deepest gratitude, especially to the people of NTB, the people of Lombok, who have given full support and also all parties,” said Jokowi via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Sunday (20/3/2022).
Viral Action of the Rainmaker on the Circuit
Heavy rain fell on the Mandalika Circuit ahead of the 2022 MotoGP race. A rain handler, Raden Roro Istiati Wulandari, immediately took action.
Based on observations at the location, Sunday (20/3/2022), the rain handler was wearing a white helmet and wearing a red and black jacket. He walked barefoot in the pouring rain along the Mandalika Circuit.
The presence of the rain handler on this circuit also made the audience excited in the stands. There were screams from the audience.
The action of the rain handler apparently stole the attention of several riders in the paddock. One of them is Fabio Quartararo who also imitates the handler’s action.

Indonesian Air Force Attractions in the Mandalika Sky
The Jupiter Aerobatic Show Team of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) aircraft showed an attraction to enliven the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and a number of officials were present to witness the maneuver of the Indonesian Air Force plane.
Based on a photo shared by the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Sunday (20/3/2022), the Jupiter team aircraft maneuvered in the sky at the Mandalika Circuit. In addition to Jokowi and Iriana, the Chairperson of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo, the Chairperson of the DPR RI Puan Maharani, the Chairperson of the Wantimpres Wiranto, the Governor of NTB Zulkieflimansyah and his wife Niken Saptarini.
The three-star TNI AU general also participated in entertaining the audience and the Mandalika MotoGP participants. It was the Commander of the Kodiklatau (Dankodiklatau) Marshal Madya (Marsdya) TNI Nanang Santoso who immediately led the JAT team in Mandalika.
“JAT participated in the success of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP, and is ready to launch the world’s highest caste motorcycle racing event. We ask for the blessing of all Indonesian people,” said Marsdya Nanang.
The presence of The Jupiters in Mandalika was an instruction from the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General TNI Andika Perkasa through the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (KSAU) Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo to enliven one of the international events held in Indonesia.
Enthusiastic Residents of ‘Nobar’ from the Hill
Residents around the Mandalika Circuit seemed to flock to the hills to watch the Indonesian MotoGP live. When it rained in the Mandalika Circuit area, local residents still stayed at Bukit Rangka to watch the race.
Sunday (20/2/2022), it rained heavily in the Mandalika area. Not disbanded, the residents persisted. People who brought umbrellas and raincoats quickly put them on.
For those who did not bring an umbrella, they pulled their jackets to cover their heads. Some of the audience also still survive to take shelter in the tunnel.

The oldest news agency in the world, Agence France-Presse or AFP also highlighted the Mandalika MotoGP event. The article was entitled “Indonesia Rises for First Grand Prix in 25 Years”
“Indonesia is holding its first motorcycle Grand Prix in 25 years,” wrote AFP, starting its report, quoted by detikcom on Sunday (20/3/2022).
The big MotoGP event was also reported by the Associated Press (AP). “MotoGP Race Will Bring 60,000 Fans to the Indonesian Circuit” reads the headline written by AP.
“Indonesia’s first MotoGP race in 25 years will attract the largest audience for any sporting event in the country since the start of the coronavirus pandemic when 60,000 fans came to the tourist island of Lombok,” the AP wrote in its initial report.
