OXFORD, MI — Authorities have released the name of the 15-year-old student who is now facing multiple charges of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting at Oxford High School on Tuesday. The shooting left four students dead and injured seven others.
The suspect in Tuesday’s deadly attack was identified as 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley, according to Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. Crumbley will be tried as an adult and is facing the following charges:
During a news conference, McDonald said there could be additional charges filed in the coming days. Crumbley’s parents could also face charges, she said.
The charges were announced just hours after Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe identified the fourth victim as 17-year-old Justin Shilling. Also killed in the attack were 17-year-old Madisyn Baldwin, 16-year-old Tate Myre and 14-year-old Hana St. Juliana.
A 15-year-old sophomore at the school fired about 15-20 shots from a semiautomatic handgun just before 1 p.m., officials said. Police received more than 100 calls about the shooting and apprehended the teen within five minutes of the first 911 call.
Officials did not immediately release the names of the injured.

Artist, Football Player Among Fatalities
Madisyn Baldwin was an artist who loved to draw, read and write, her family told WDIV. She had a younger half-brother and two sisters she dearly loved.
“It’s just surreal. Traumatizing. She touched so many people,” her grandmother told WDIV.
Tate Myre died in a sheriff’s deputy’s car en route to the hospital, officials said.
“There was no time to wait,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “He tried to load him into the car to get him as fast as he could to a hospital.”
Myre was a varsity football player for the Oxford Wildcats at the high school. The team released a social media post remembering Myre.
“It is with great grief that one of the victims of the tragic event at OHS today was one of our own, Tate Myre,” the team said. “Tate was on varsity since his freshman year and was an honor student. Tate was a great young man with a bright future and beloved by all. You will be missed, Tate.”
A petition was started to rename the team’s stadium from Wildcat stadium to Tate Myre stadium. As of Wednesday morning, the petition had over 43,000 signatures.
Fourteen-year-old Hana St. Juliana, a freshman at Oxford High School, was also shot to death. She was a player on the freshman volleyball team.

Shooter’s Motive Still Unclear
The teen suspect had been in class Tuesday, McCabe told the Free Press. Following his arrest, he invoked his right not to speak to investigators and requested a lawyer.
Authorities said they were searching the suspect’s cell phone, school video footage and social media posts for evidence of a possible motive.
In a statement to The Associated Press, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said her office expects to issue charges quickly. An update is expected Wednesday.
The suspect is currently in custody at Oakland County’s Children Village, the county’s juvenile detention facility, McCabe told the Free Press. He is under suicide watch and is remaining silent.
“The person that’s got the most insight and the motive is not talking,” Bouchard said at a news conference late Tuesday.
Threats Of Violence Loomed
Authorities were made aware of posts on social media that contained threats of a shooting at the roughly 1,700-student school, but Bouchard said they didn’t know about the rumors until after the attack, the AP reported.
He stressed how crucial it is for tips of that kind to be sent to authorities, while also cautioning against spreading social media rumors before a full investigation.
McCabe also downplayed the significance of a situation in early November when a deer head was thrown off the school roof, which he said was “absolutely unrelated” to the shooting. The vandalism prompted school administrators to post two letters to parents on the school’s website, saying they responded to rumors of a threat against the school but had found none.

Robin Redding’s son, Treshan Bryant, is a 12th grader at the school but stayed home Tuesday. Redding said her son had heard threats of a possible shooting.
“This couldn’t be just random,” she told the AP.
Bryant said he texted several younger cousins in the morning and they said they didn’t want to go to school, and he got a bad feeling. He asked his mom if he could do his assignments online.
Bryant said he had heard vague threats “for a long time now” about plans for a shooting.
Students Armed Themselves With Scissors, Calculators
As the sounds of gunfire rang through the school and an urgent message on the loudspeaker, students barricaded doors and grabbed scissors for self-defense.
“We grabbed calculators, we grabbed scissors just in case the shooter got in and we had to attack them,” senior Aiden Page told CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
The campus was placed on lockdown during the attack, prompting children and teachers to shelter in locked classrooms. Students were later taken to a nearby Meijer grocery store to be picked up by their parents.
In a statement, the district said all schools would be closed for the rest of the week.
