Fear the Walking Dead season 7 showrunner Ian Goldberg shares his thoughts on John Dorie Sr.’s death. As the season nears its end and the stakes are pushed higher and higher, the fates of Fear the Walking Dead characters become more and more uncertain. Each season of the long-running franchise has brought the deaths of prominent characters, and season 7 has proven no exception. Fear the Walking Dead season 7 episode 12 began with Baby Mo suddenly going missing. As a way to get into Victor Strand’s (Colman Domingo) ear, so he could transform the community into something better for a future generation of survivors, Dorie (Keith Carradine) vowed to find the baby and return her. He soon finds out that June (Jenna Elfman) and Grace (Karen David) have decided to whisk the baby away to allow Morgan (Lennie James) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) to wage war against the Tower, Strand’s high-rise community. In an effort to protect June and Grace, Dorie kills Howard (Omid Abtahi) and steals Baby Mo away through the swarm of walkers, sacrificing himself to get the child to Morgan.

During AMC+’s Fear the Walking Dead: Episode Insider (via ComicBook.com), Goldberg admits he truly found it difficult to bid Carradine farewell. The showrunner shares that the actor brought a wealth of experience to the role like no other actor could, and gave Dorie a sense of real dignity.
Carradine follows a time-honored tradition within the franchise. Like all seasons of The Walking Dead and its spinoffs, shocking deaths are to be expected among the vast, ever-revolving cast of characters. Alicia, Strand, and Daniel (Rubén Blades) are the only three remaining cast members from Fear the Walking Dead season 1. However, it has recently been revealed that Kim Dickens will return as Madison Clark following her supposed death in season 4.
