4 Facts about Black Frieza, Frieza’s new form in Dragon Ball Super
Previously, Frieza had the form of the Golden Frieza.
Now he has a new transformation: Black Frieza. His power level also currently surpasses that of Goku and Vegeta.
1. First shown in Dragon Ball Super manga chapter 87
The form of Black Frieza first debuted in Dragon Ball Super chapter 87.
It shows Frieza suddenly appearing, killing Gas with ease. He also then finished off Elec.
As he finished off Gas, he seemed to have briefly transformed into this form. When Goku and Vegeta are confused about how Frieza can kill Gas so easily, Frieza explains he’s been training.
Frieza then clearly shows Black Frieza’s form to Goku and Vegeta, and shows off his strength by beating them both.
2. How Frieza reached Black Frieza’s form
In chapter 87, Frieza admits he has spent time in another dimension.
In one of the worlds that Frieza ruled, he found a kind of Space of Soul and Time.
The training that Frieza underwent there was equivalent to 10 years of training.
Frieza’s motivation is that he doesn’t want to keep losing to the Saiyans, so he feels the need for power ups.

3. How strong is Black Frieza?
In his Black Frieza form, Frieza kills Gas easily.
It should be noted that previously Gas was able to face Vegeta’s Ultra Ego. After he experienced an increase at the end of chapter 85, Gas was also able to beat Goku in chapter 86 (after chapter 85 True Ultra Instinct Goku had surpassed him).
Gas is also able to withstand Granolah’s powerful attack, which Granolah launched in chapter 86. Even though he was thought to have lost, the Gas rose again at the beginning of chapter 87.
Even so, in front of Frieza, Gas is nothing.
When Black Frieza attacks Goku and Vegeta in chapter 87, Goku and Vegeta also change form. Goku uses True Ultra Instinct and Vegeta uses Ultra Ego.
Black Frieza keeps beating them, until Vegeta and Goku return to their basic forms.
Maybe one day Goku and Vegeta will reach a power that surpasses Black Frieza. They do continue to develop their abilities.
But in chapter 87, Frieza surpasses Gas, Goku, and Vegeta.
4. Whis doesn’t give a clear answer whether Frieza is the strongest swordsman in the world right now
Previously, Oracle Fish had mentioned the strongest swordsman in the universe.
Vegeta asks Whis at the end of chapter 87 if that figure is Frieza.
Whis’ answer was simply “probably.”
Whis also raised the possibility of another strongest fighter in their universe appearing elsewhere.
So those are four facts about Black Frieza, Frieza’s new form in Dragon Ball Super.
