PERKIOMEN TWP. – Thousands of men and women in blue and gray arrived early Saturday morning, traveling in motorcycle brigades, police vehicles, and fire engines to Perkiomen Valley High School.
They were greeted by local men, women and children waving American flags and blue and gray flags, symbolizing support for our nation’s police officers.
Some traveled from as far as Vermont, Texas and Arizona to pay their respects to Trooper Branden T. Sisca, who died in the line of duty at age 29.
Sisca and Trooper Martin Mack III were fatally injured on March 21 when they stopped to help Allentown resident Reyes Rivera, 28, who was walking along Interstate I-95 near Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
Jayna Webb, 21, of Eagleville, Montgomery County, attempted to pass the vehicle at a high speed and hit and killed all three, police said. Webb is facing third-degree murder and related charges.

Hundreds of Pennsylvania state troopers were the first to march in sync, holding their hats down to show respect to Sisca’s family, into an arena.
Once the large arena filled up, several hundred others were escorted into a smaller basketball arena to watch the service on large-screen televisions.
It was a day full of emotion for everyone in attendance at the same school where Sisca graduated in 2010.
Gov. Tom Wolf and his wife, Frances, were in attendance, seated in the front row.
The Rev. Paul Randolph, a state police chaplain, led the service.
Randolph shared some memories from Sisca’s family.
The family enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City, N.J. He met his wife, Brittany, at the fire station, where her father was the chief. The two married on Sept. 5, 2021.
The pastor said Brittany will miss her husband’s smiling face and late night trips to Wawa and good night kisses.
The pastor said Sisca’s life was about serving others and protecting civilians from danger. The pastor’s advice to everyone in attendance:
“Get behind the men and women who stand in harm’s way for us, the ones who run in as we run away. The sacrifices to your brothers in gray matter. Branden and Martin did not die in vain. They died doing what they love and they died together.”
The pastor said the massive gathering is evidence of the love and support everyone has for their family.
He said the family has two other families who love them – the state police and the fire company.
“May the message of this service and the outpouring of the community give you comfort,” he said.
Best Friend Shares Memories
His best friend, Trooper Ross Greenwood, shared heartfelt memories of what true friendship is all about. The two grew up together like brothers in the small borough of Trappe.
“Remember the first time you rode on a bus?” Greenwood asked. “I was on a bus, and I saw a kid with a big smile, and he waved me over and said ‘you could sit with me.’ My name is Branden.”
“We were both only children,” Greenwood said. “We played street hockey. We had dreams of being firefighters. I looked up to Branden as a big brother.”
Sisca joined the Trappe Fire Department at age 16. He worked his way up to chief.
Sisca graduated from West Chester University with a degree in criminal justice. He earned his master’s degree in safety, security and emergency management from Eastern Kentucky University.
Greenwood joined the state police first. Sisca got a job as a paid firefighter with the Spring Township Fire Company, Berks County, and Upper Providence Township Fire Company, Montgomery County.
Sisca then decided he wanted to be a state trooper, and graduated from Penn State Police Academy.
The two friends worked as state troopers at Philadelphia Troop K. Greenwood said he was the best man at Sisca’s wedding.
His wife, Brittany, is pregnant.
“I am so sorry for what happened to you (Sisca) and your family,” Greenwood said, promising to look out for his friend’s family.
Trooper Matthew Lynn said he worked with Sisca in Philadelphia and the two became great friends.
“Branden exemplified the state police core values,” Lynn said. “He cherished his wife and he was excited to be a father.”
A Natural-Born Firefighter
Deputy Chief John Bolger of the Trappe Fire Company said Sisca was a selfless man concerned more about others than himself.
“He led a life of service for his community,” Bolger said.

“Branden pulled people up and encouraged them to learn,” Bolger continued. “He waited for everyone to get together and make decisions together. He was our best man. He is half my age, and he was teaching me. He taught me how to be patient and listen.
