The United States MotoGP gave rise to Enea Bastianini as the winner. While Marc Marquez could only finish sixth after being thrown to the very back position.
In the race that was held at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA), Monday (11/4/2022), Bastianini became the champion after defeating Alex Rins and Jack Miller, who placed second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, Marc Marquez, who just made a comeback after missing the last two races, finished the race in sixth position. The Repsol Honda rider had slipped into the very back position shortly after the start, allegedly because he had pressed the pit limiter incorrectly. But he then pushed up to finally finish the US MotoGP at number six.
The US MotoGP Race Course
Jack Miller managed to lead the race when entering the first corner after the start. Jorge Martin is right behind Miller, while third place belongs to Bastianini, who successfully overtook Francesco Bagnaia.
Ducati, which put five riders at the forefront of the grid, could not be matched by the Yamaha bikes at the start of this race. At first only Suzuki was able to provide resistance through Alex Rins. Rins successfully took fifth place from Bagnaia on lap five and continued by overtaking Zarco two laps later.
Rins then continued to climb up by being in third place after following Bastianini. While in the leading position, Jack Miller began to distance himself from other riders.
After continuing to be in pole position since the start of the race, Miller finally had to be evicted. On lap 16 Bastianini successfully overtook Miller to win the race leader status.
The momentum was then successfully utilized by Bastianini to the finish line. The Gresini Racing rider won his second victory in his MotoGP career, the first he won at the season-opening race in Qatar.
While Marquez finally finished the race in sixth position, after overtaking Fabio Quartararo. Seeing the ‘madness’ of Marquez overtaking a dozen riders after dropping his position after the start, it is not impossible that he could compete for the championship if he did not make a blunder.
