MOOSE, WY — A Wyoming skier fell to his death over the weekend while skiing in Grand Teton National Park, officials said.
A climber in Death Canyon told dispatchers Sunday afternoon that a skier fell in the Apocalypse Couloir and appeared to be unresponsive. Park rangers and a Teton County rescue team raced to the canyon with a search helicopter to provide medical care, the National Park Service said in a news release.
Medical responders tried to resuscitate the skier, identified as Radcliff Spencer, 27, of Jackson, but were unsuccessful due to the nature of his injuries, officials said.
Spencer’s body was flown from the backcountry and taken to the Teton County coroner. Four others — who were in Spencer’s party when he fell — were airlifted out of the canyon.
The park service warned that while snowpack remains generally stable, hazards still exist that could carry severe consequences in technical terrain. A park spokesman told media outlets the fall was likely not caused by an avalanche.

Spencer was a partner and associate broker at the real estate firm NeVille | Asbell | Spencer in Jackson Hole, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Spencer was the eldest of five brothers and sisters and was raised in Atlanta. He attended the University of Georgia and earned a bachelor of business administration degree in real estate in 2017 before moving to Jackson Hole.

Spencer often spent his free time exploring the Tetons on his skis, with a rope, a pair of running shoes, or on a mountain bike, his profile said. He was also an active member of the Jackson Hole campus of Fresh Life Church, as well as an assistant coach for the boys high school lacrosse team.
